Baptism

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:19

Just prior to returning to heaven, Jesus commissioned His church to baptize and teach all nations. Through baptism God gives His children two gifts: 1) forgiveness of sins 2) His Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). As with all gifts, they are not earned, but are undeserved. These gifts are based upon God’s nature and given freely to anyone who would receive them. For this reason baptism is offered and practiced for all people of any age. This inclusive nature of baptism is how it was practiced in the early church, as evidenced by the jailer who was converted by Paul and had his whole family baptized (Acts 16:29-34).
