What We Believe about Jesus Christ, the Bible, and the Church

Whether you’re a first-time visitor wanting to know more about us, or a regular attendee looking for clarification, there’s a good chance you have some questions. Below are some of the most common questions we get, along with helpful links for even deeper answers.
Who is God?

We believe in the Triune God: the Father, creator of all that exists; Jesus Christ, the Son, who became human to suffer and die for the sins of all human beings and to rise to life again in the ultimate victory over death and Satan; and the Holy Spirit, who creates faith through God’s Word. The three persons of the Trinity are coequal and coeternal, one God.

Is the Bible completely true?

Our church affirms the “five solas” of the Protestant Reformation, and one of those is the belief of “sola scriptura,” or “Scripture alone.”

We believe that the Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His Law and His Gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.

While other books are helpful to our faith, only the books of the Bible affirmed at the Coucil of Nicea contain the complete Word of God given to His people: us.

So what denomination does that make you?

Our church belongs to the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (or LCMS), which is a conservative Bible-based denomination. The theology of our governing body is both welcoming and safe, and we adhere to the teachings of the synod.

But you don't SEEM very Lutheran...

Consider it like a book cover: it may look different on the outside, but it’s still the same content inside. Only Jesus saves. Only the Bible is completely trustworthy. Only by grace do we come to God at all.

You have a place here, and the way we teach Scripture (and how it applies to your life) will not lead you astray or into fanciful modernism. Truth remains truth, and that’s all we’ll teach.

So what does the church DO with its beliefs?

We have a mission statement printed large and bright on the glass panel in front of our main office. It constantly reminds us, and all who come here, that we are continually striving to bring the Light of God’s love into our lives and others so that all may B.E.L.I.E.V.E., and that means we focus on:

B – Building Families

E – Evangelizing

L – Life-Changing Ministry

I – Innovative Ministry

E – Equipping Lay Ministry

V – Vital Youth Ministry

E – Efficient Structure

You’ll find more about each of these elements across our website, but that’s a sufficient summary for now.

Okay, what's next?

It largely depends on where you’re coming from.

If you’re checking out our website for the first time, the next best thing you can do next is plan a visit. Church online is an exciting step, but honestly, there’s nothing quite like being in the room with us in worship and study of God’s Word. It’s irreplaceable, and we would love to see you.

We understand that not everyone can make it here in person, though, so checking out some of our recent sermons is another great way to get a feel for our church.

Another fantastic option, just to meet some people and get to know us better, is to sign up for one of our events coming up. It’s the perfect way to check out the church without comitting yourself to the entire weekend service… yet.

Finally, it’s possible we’ve missed something on this page, and you’d like to ask us a question directly. Feel free to contact us and we’d love to connect with you.

Thanks for being here. Not everyone cares enough about a church’s beliefs to check it out before they drop in. That you’ve read this far on the page means that you’re doing your due diligence, and that’s wonderful. It also means you haven’t been scared off by anything we said above, which means we’re probably going to get along great. We look forward to meeting you soon!
