Compassion In Action“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” 1 Peter 4:10
One of the primary purposes God gives us in life is to serve one another (Galatians 5:13). In serving one another, we connect to our church and the neighborhoods in which we live. At Light of the World, we ask our members to be the church, not simply go to church.
Compassion in action network (CAN)
CAN is our new rebranded and revitalized serving ministry that will focus on being the hands and feet of Jesus through 2 serving teams.
Local Actions Team:
Which focus on our direct community we live in and the people within LOTW.
- We host a quarterly Blood Drive at LOTW during Sunday services
- Back To School Supply drive for children in need of school essentials.
- There is a team available to help widows, single moms, and seniors with handyman needs.
- We participate in the City of Fort Worth’s “Cowtown Brushup”.
- We partner with Habitat for Humanity’s “Habitat Build”.
- We do a Thanksgiving Food Drive in coordination with NICA (Northside Inter-Community Agency),
- We collect donations for Christmas Angel Trees,
- We support a local orphan ministry every year with supplies and serve as a resource to them through active foster families in our church.
Distant Actions Team:
Which are the needs and opportunities beyong our four walls and our local community.
- Partnerships and networking with many missions organizations throughout the world.
- Disaster Relief (hurricanes, flooding, tornados).
- Casa Por Christo – A trip to Acuna, Mexico to build a home for a family in need.
- Trips to various summer camps to help rebuild or construct new additions.
- Short term missions trips around the world.
