Eternal Truth Spoken in Alliance and Far North Fort Worth

In a world inundated with misinformation and distorted ideologies, finding a source of truth can be a daunting task. However, in the heart of the Alliance and Far North Fort Worth area, sits Light of the World Church.

What sets LOTW apart is its unwavering commitment to teaching the whole Word of God. Without pointing fingers and being divisive, the team at LOTW is alarmed by churches in the area that often stray into the realm of Prosperity Gospel and Word of Faith teachings, which can be anti-biblical, as well as churches that miss the core message of the gospel, instead advertising how serious they are about having fun. Jesus is more than enough!

Light of the World Church is dedicated to shedding light on the truth  of the world around us and guiding its congregation towards a deeper understanding of God's will, both on macro and micro levels, in the following ways:

A Distinctive Approach to Ministry

Unlike many churches in the region, Light of the World Church does not shy away from tackling the challenging aspects of Scripture. Dr. Greg Beutel, the Executive Board of the church, the Board of Elders, and the leadership team firmly believe in teaching the whole Word of God, including the uncomfortable parts. By delving into these aspects, the church equips its members to discern God's will and navigate the complexities of life today. This commitment to comprehensive teaching provides a solid foundation for spiritual growth and understanding.

Further, LOTW strives to partner with like-minded Alliance-area ministries. If Sunday services are too contemporary (or not contemporary enough) for your tastes, one of the pastors will be happy to help guide you to another ministry that is wholly focused on Truth while appealing more to your sensibilities. It is better to hear God's Word spoken in love elsewhere than for you to 'give up' on church entirely over something you don't like. To that end, Pastor Greg notes in his message to new visitors that "we are more concerned with your growth than ours."

Rejecting Prosperity Gospel

One prevalent deviation from biblical teachings is the Prosperity Gospel, which promises material wealth and success as signs of God's favor. Light of the World Church takes a strong stance against this distorted ideology, understanding that true faith encompasses much more than mere financial gain; in fact, it sometimes requires suffering, which is not a popular subject in the Alliance area. The church encourages its congregation to pursue a genuine faith in God regardless of your current circumstances, focusing instead on spiritual growth, compassion, and serving others. By rejecting the Prosperity Gospel and Word of Faith (i.e. "name it and claim it" theology), Light of the World Church reinforces its commitment to biblical truth and promotes a holistic understanding of God's purpose for our lives.

This kind of teaching is prevalent throughout Light of the World's ministry areas, including Bible Studies and corporate worship opportunities. Joe Barnosky, the Worship and Web Teams Leader, notes that "many songs that we hear even on Christian radio focus primarily on what God is going to do for me, like He's always going to 'fight my battles' and make sure that we 'see a victory.' That's not what Paul saw. That's not what Peter, James, Andrew, Philip, or Steven saw. Worship should be centered around celebrating who God is and giving adoration and commitment upwards, affirming His Word, not celebrating what we get from the relationship. Those other songs may be great to sing between you and God, but they're not for Sundays together. When we gather, we worship. That's what Spirit and Truth is to us."

Focusing on the Truth

"If God said it, then that's how it is." In a world filled with misinformation and half-truths, the need for discernment has never been greater. Light of the World Church recognizes this and strives to equip its members with the tools necessary to distinguish truth from falsehood, or sheep from wolves. The church fosters an environment that encourages critical thinking and spiritual discernment through in-depth Bible study, relevant sermons, and engaging group discussion opportunities.

Sadly, that means that some would feel uncomfortable here. LOTW holds to all theology that would be considered Conservative, including anti-LGBTQIA2S+ ideology. This is not a matter of hate, but a matter of consistency: if God created the world, and fashioned the laws of physics and the dynamics of relationships in ways that work within that world, and laid out laws and precepts for us to follow, and promised a Savior to pay for our sins when we can't follow the Laws, and delivered that Savior to us of His own volition, then we must assume that His way is not only the best way, but it is the only way forward. Anything that does not fit in His way should be out of the way, including what we believe are our preferences. LOTW is also anti-pornography, anti-adultery, anti-abuse, anti-dishonesty, anti-hoarding, and anti-unwelcoming, for starters. There will always be a seat for you at a LOTW table to pursue God and know His will. Light of the World is singularly committed to putting God and His Way first in the Far North Fort Worth area, and every other question, issue, or preference, comes secondary to what His Word says first.

A Source of Hope in Far North Fort Worth

Light of the World Church has consistently served as a beacon of hope within the local communities, including businesses, ministries, and individuals from Alliance, Keller, Watauga, Blue Mound, Saginaw, Avondale, Haslet, Lake Worth, and beyond. Dr. Greg's vision for the church was to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all individuals seeking truth and spiritual growth. With open arms, the church embraces people from diverse backgrounds, providing a nurturing environment where individuals can experience the transformative power of God's love. By embodying hope through homelessness resources, community service, and one-on-one counseling, Light of the World Church becomes a positive force within the community, bringing people together and inspiring them to live according to the principles of truth and love.

A commonly recurring theme in LOTW's teachings is the idea of "Law-Gospel Tension," the exploration of how Jesus did ministry on Earth. To many, He extended grace, hope, and love, taking time to teach and heal the hurting and the hopeless. At the same time, to many (especially religious leaders), He gave admonishment, showing their errant teachings and standards. Jesus loved, but He also corrected, and Light of the World seeks to emulate that. The congregation usually understands that hope, joy, and true life are found only in God, so the teachings every week and the lives affected by it should reflect both Law and Gospel, if anyone is to walk humbly before God in today's world. This is the hope that LOTW teaches: no one is perfect, but His grace is sufficient.
