This is the fourth year that LOTW has sponsored and painted a house for Fort Worth's Fall "Cowtown BrushUp" event. CTBU is a joint event between the City of Fort Worth and Trinity Habitat for Humanity. Low-income families can request assistance with getting their homes painted. CTBU is put on twice a year, with 40-50 homes getting painted by volunteer groups all on the same day.
This year, our team of 10 people painted Ms. Thomas' home in southeast Fort Worth. She purchased Gold paint for the home and Brown paint for the trim along the roof. We worked from 8am to 1pm in beautiful fall weather. There were several surfaces, requiring a lot of brush work. Ms. Thomas was very appreciative of our efforts.
We had some new faces as well as some who have participated 3 of the 4 years. There was a lot of work on ladders with only one minor injury (scrape and bruise). We will participate again, next Fall. In the Spring, we will schedule a day or two to help build a Habitat for Humanity home.
