Sunday afternoon, April 2, 2023, the Forever Young group gathered to discuss innovative ways to impart faith lessons to their grandchildren, joined by grandparents from two other churches. With the experience and wisdom that come with age, grandparents play a crucial role in transmitting religious values, morals, and traditions to their grandchildren. In a world where many grandchildren are growing up without the foundation of faith that their grandparents may have had, this gathering was an opportunity to explore creative ways to share the gifts of God with the younger generation.

During the gathering, participants emphasized the importance of building and maintaining strong relationships with their grown children, as this would enable them to better influence and guide their grandchildren. They discussed how they could offer support, advice, and encouragement to their children in their own faith journey, and in turn, create an environment that fosters religious growth for the grandchildren. Additionally, participants recognized that a crucial aspect of transmitting faith to grandchildren is leading by example. Grandparents were encouraged to model godly character and virtues, such as kindness, generosity, and forgiveness, which would leave a lasting impression on their grandchildren.

Finally, participants were encouraged to film their own stories of faith, which could be shared with their grandchildren even after their passing. This kind of legacy can live forever, so if they aren’t comfortable or able to film their own testimonies, they were offered the opportunity for one of our staff members to set up a time and space to record their videos for them.

We can’t wait to hear the impact of these incredible grandparents on the children they are helping shepherd, and we’re excited for future events with this theme.
